Special thanks to Andy for helping me to identify a photo as being that of Lunn's Tower at Kenilworth. Lunn's Tower is in the photo above, first image on the left. We found some links to other sites that will provide far more information about Kenilworth than we ever could: |
Warwick CastleWarwick Castle is a restored/preserved castle that is a main tourist attraction in Warwick. It has a restaurant and a gift shop as well as a museum in one of the castle rooms. There is even a haunted tower that you can climb up. Adjacent to the castle is a wonderful rose garden with peacocks wandering around in the back of the castle. Warwick Castle has its own website www.warwick-castle.co.uk/ |

Ludlow CastleA special thanks to Andy for identifying these photos a Ludlow castle. It has been a mystery to me for 10 years. Cheers! Ludlow Castle is in the middle of the town. I had a bit of difficulty finding a place to park and when I went they were setting up for a graduation ceremony on the castle grounds so you can imagine the scene, but despite the difficulties of my visit, the castle itself was really nice to visit. Stokesay CastleStokesay Castle is a nice short stop for the day. There is a tape recording that you can rent to listen to as you go through the castle which helps you better understand the history of the building. Stokesay is not actually a castle, it is a fortified manor, and the best preserved manor house in England. Clun CastleThe perfect place to picnic. I think out of all the castles I have visted, this one stands out as my favorite. The setting is simply romantic. |

I visited Donnington Castle on the way to Stonehenge from Coventry. I need to do a bit more studying up to get more history on the place. |
