We began our trip through England from the north. The first morning, we arrived at the wall about 9am. Nothing seems to ever be open at this time of day in England. Or maybe it was just us. We waited at the information booth in town to get some maps and info on the area. No previous planning had been done. We learned that the wall runs along the side of the road and that there are places that you can pull out to read informational signs and some places that are tourist spots with larger remains as well as rest rooms and sandwiches.

Along withthe wall and forts, the land was sculpted for additonal protection. In many places along the wall you can see the mounds and the ditch clearly.
