Dolmen Area

Dolmen Area
This dolmen lies between several rectangular rocks (shown below), which may have been standing monoliths a long time ago.  Because of the vandalism in this area, I suspect that the monoliths were knocked over on purpose.  If there had been educational signs in the area explaining what the rock formations were, how long they had been there, and how to treat them, maybe people would have shown more respect.

This monolith (?) lies to the side of the dolmen.  A carved hole lies at the center of the base (see picture on right).  The hole seems too perfect to have been formed by nature.

This image is a close up of that hole in the center of the base.

Here is a monolith (in our opinion) that lies to the other side of the dolmen.  It is over two feet long (tall) and about one foot wide.  The thickness is about 6 inches.
This row of boulders may have been used to mark direction of the sun set / rise or the moon position on a special holiday.

We hope to get back there with a compass to measure the direction.  I suspect it runs North / South like another row of boulders we found.
