The train departed at 6am from Cuzco to Machu Picchu. We had to rise at 4 a.m. to pack and get ready for the trip.
The hotel we were staying at allowed us to leave most of our luggage so we only had to take one bag to Machu Picchu for the night. There is not a lot of room on the train for luggage.
As we left Cuzco, the train passed along the same roads that we had driven on the day before as we returned to from the Sacred Valley. The scenery as the dawn broke was beautiful. People were already up and heading towards the fields or towards the city to work.
