Itinerary

Sacsayhuaman was the last stop on our city tour. This site was once a major part of the heart of the Inca empire. At the time of our visit, if Toledo was to be elected president, he said would have held his acceptance celebration here. He did eventually win, but we do not know if that idea carried through. This place would have been very significant as he would be the first of native heritage to be president of Peru.

On Sundays, children practice futbol (soccer) on the fields between the fortress walls. We enjoyed the place so much, we hired a private driver to bring up back on our last day.
